With all of the publicity and pressure to better manage an organization, I needed to redefine our goals and have well thought out strategies for the projects we have or will undertake. I need to be able to clearly see our progress and be able to report this information to the board each month. I want to have each manager and their direct reports, become more involved and accountable for their contribution to these company goals. What we realized was that:

Our employees worked hard on the wrong things, accomplishing significant results, but in the end we found that there was limited value to the organization

  • Employees with poor organizational skills continue to do only part of their job, resulting in our inability to maximize our potential
  • We lost significant time to do the work that needs to be done
  • There was a loss of clarity as to who should be doing the work
  • Wrong work-or right work done wrong because of a misunderstanding
